Weekly Recap: 9/22/14-9/28/14

Last week went pretty well as far as hitting my workout goals.

Monday: Was supposed to go to yoga, but I was tired and focused at work. Since I had been hiking on Saturday and Sunday, I decided to give myself a break.

Tuesday: I planned for a 2 mile run, but the weather and some issues at home kept me from going on. I regretted not making it, but it was the right choice.

Wednesday: Yoga class. I almost always make the Wednesday one and it always makes me feel better. I went partly just to use the foam roller on my still sore legs. It felt so good and loosened them up for the rest of the week.

Thursday: I did a 2.5 mile run during my lunch hour. It was supposed to be on some trails with a friend,  but she ended up sick. Since I don't know where the trails start/end, I decided to run along the river. I felt really slow the whole time, so I was surprised to see that I kept a fairly steady 9:15/mile pace. That's the best I've managed so far (by a lot). I will definitely take more days like that.

Friday: I planned to go to another yoga class, but ended up walking home from work instead. It was a great 3.5 mile walk that let me go both along the river and through downtown. Bonus: I stopped for a beer. That's the one thing yoga is really missing.

Portland's waterfront park is stunning...most of the year.

Saturday: Rest. So, that's what I did. Sort of. I still managed to get my 10,000 steps in for the day with all the errands I needed to run.

Sunday: I planned and did a 4.5 mile run. Well, it was actually a 2 mile run, 0.5 mile walk, 1.5 mile run and 0.5 mile walk. That was the plan from the start though. I find that it helps me get over some distance hurdles. For the first 2 miles, I felt really off and couldn't find a rhythm. Of course, I started to feel good right before my first walk segment. I was worried I wouldn't be able to pick it up again, but the last 1.5 miles felt awesome. In general, I got home feeling fantastic. I was slower than Thursday, but definitely worth it.
