After a crazy week, there is nothing I love more than making the weekend a little crazier. On Sunday, I decided to take a quick trip up to Seattle to enjoy the afternoon. Once upon a time, I actually lived in Seattle, so I have a certain fondness for the city. While a lot of people compare Seattle and Portland, I find them to be two completely different places, each with something to offer. So, Sunday morning, I hopped in the car and made the quick drive up.
I'm used to making this drive early in the morning, so the traffic a little later was much more stop-and-go, but I finally managed to get through.
And, of course, the first stop was for food and beer (actually, mine was a hard cider).
The Noble Fir is a bar in Ballard that also does small plates. It isn't where I initially intended to go, but it worked out really well. The cider I had is an English Tradition Dry Cider from Snowdrift Cider Company. It was really good! I typically like French style ciders better, but this one certainly hit the spot. After some food, we decided to walk around a little more.
Which, of course, led to more beer. (We actually wanted to see a movie, but had just missed a showtime.)
The Ballard Beer Company was a great place to sit down, sample, and figure out what to do with the rest of the day. The cherry cider from Tieton Cider Works (far left of the picture with the deep red color) was my absolute favorite. I'm hoping I can find some in Portland to have at home.
There may also have been an ice cream stop, but since I ate it all before taking a picture, I'm pretty sure you can't prove it happened.
Clearly I will need to make up for all my weekend indulgences this next week. Should make for some nice long workout sessions.
