AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge: Day 1

Last week, I mentioned I was getting ready to start an AdvoCare Challenge. Well, it is Tuesday (how is it ONLY Tuesday?), which means that yesterday was my first day with the program.

Nice, easy to follow plan. Practically goof-proof.

My morning started with the Spark Energy Drink. I ordered the citrus and the watermelon flavor, but so far have only had the citrus one. I found the taste very similar to that of Airborne or Emergen-C. I used more water than the packet said for it, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. If the taste bothers you, it could easily be watered down more, as long as you are able to drink that much quickly.

The citrus spark drink is pretty good and definitely adds a little pep to my day.

The fiber drink was a little more difficult to stomach. I tend to have issues with things that have that sort of texture. Katie at Running 4 Cupcakes recommended the Peaches & Cream flavor and I don't really mind the taste. I'm glad there are only a few days that require the fiber drink though instead of all 24.

Definitely not the worst thing I've ever eaten.

Definitely not the worst thing I've ever eaten.

Instead of a meal replacement shake, I've been focusing on trying to eat better all the way around. Honestly, I often eat breakfast at work and it is difficult for me to do something like that from my desk. The list of food to avoid includes coffee, pop, alcohol, white foods, sugary sauces, sugar, dairy, and generally fatty food that I *know* aren't good for me. That actually leaves a lot of options, which I like. Oatmeal (the good stuff, not the super sugary kind) is a good standby for me. I like to add a little bit of fruit and maybe some honey to it.

I have a great place to buy lunch that has soups that are vegan and very wholesome. There is a decent amount of variety, so that always helps. They also have a large number of salads (both the lettuce and whole grain) variety. I jumped on the soup option yesterday, but am looking forward to trying some other things.

I try to drink a lot of water anyway, so that doesn't really change. I drink caffeine-free tea at work throughout the day and count that toward my water consumption.

I'm trying both the Catlyst and herbal cleanse tablets, but don't really have anything to say about them yet.

Have you ever done a challenge/cleanse? What food did you miss most?

I miss cheese.
