It's Monday and today is at the top of the list in terms of rough starts to the week. I got into the office early and ran to grab my morning tea (don't worry, it's decaf and challenge friendly). Turns out our hot water dispenser doesn't work today. I pouted for a while and finally decided just to get regular water.
And then I remembered that I could also microwave water and get the same result. I guess that means all is well.
My ankle kept me from running my race on Saturday. That was probably a good choice. My physician got back to me over the weekend and confirmed that I am somewhere in the stress reaction/stress fracture range. Since I don't need a definitive answer, we are skipping the additional imaging and sticking with simple treatment.
I get to wear this super beautiful brace and go easy on my ankle for about 2 weeks. I am hoping it will be better before then. Even though I hate wearing it, I already feel so much better with it on. I can still go to yoga and start my TRX class next week, so that will keep me happy for a little while.
I'll also be checking in at a local running store and seeing about some new shoes. I have a feeling mine might have contributed, so I want to make sure I get in the right ones this time around.
While I am not thrilled, I am happy I'm getting this taken care of now. I've committed to running the Shamrock Half-Marathon in May, and this will get me back running in plenty of time to go through my whole training program without worry.
